The Psychoanalyst's Workshop: Essays on Psychoanalytic Experience
Maria José Martins de Azevedo
€17.00
The Psychoanalysts’ Workshop, by Maria José Martins de Azevedo, shows us how the establishment of a new mode of interpersonal relationship — the new relationship — enables suspended development to resume and, in the process, brings about changes in relationships and identity, ultimately leading to an immanent cure. Etiological treatment, with assured success: the pathogenic relationship, wearisome and stifling, progressively weakens until it disappears, under the countervailing influence of an expanding, pleasurable, and stimulating health-promoting relationship. In this way, the seed germinates: from the fertile ground of a complementary and responsive therapeutic relationship emerges the individual’s distinctive identity, until then confined and parched.
[...] The Psychoanalyst’s Workshop is the intangible crucible in which, within the warm nakedness of subjective intimacy, the highest feelings of the human spirit — admiration and compassion — are purified, becoming the sublime expression of human love.
